Mount Leinster Challenge 2013

 
Nolan Transport were glad to sponsor the Mount Leinster Challenge 2013 which took place on Friday the 17th of May.

Organisers, Slaney Cycle Club, posted the following response to the event

Thanks to everyone who attended Yesterdays Mount Leinster Challenge and made it, We think, one of the best yet. The weather was a huge bonus. None of the rain forecast-ed arrived and we had bright sunshine for most of the day. Sorry about the headwind on the way out but it became a good friend on the final run for home!

 Thanks to all our volunteers who assisted us today on the MLC.

 Special thanks to the people who make this event so special - the cheerful, hard working, dedicated team at the Kiltealy food stop. The event would be nothing without this team who year after year go above and beyond the call of duty to provide such a great and welcome spread. Chapeau!

Back in March a few of our staff decided to do fundraising for Pieta House  linking in with their Darkness Into Light event. After researching Pieta house they were made aware that It costs approximately €1,000 to successfully bring one person through a full suite of therapy sessions and into the light, they decided to set this as their target. Nolan Transport are proud to announce that not only did they reach their target, they exceeded it raising: €1,255 After a few weeks of brainstorming, they decided on a few fundraising ideas that they believed would help reach their target. With a guess the amount competition on the final day. Sulphur Emission Control Areas (SECA)

Changes taking place from January 2015 in relation to the European Union directive on Fuel Emission that all ferry operators operating in the Sulphur Emission Control Areas (SECA). The SECA zone includes English Channel and North Sea that we must travel though when moving your cargo going to/from Mainland Europe. The current maximum allowed Sulphur content in marine fuels is 1.0% and this will reduce to 0.1% within the Sulphur Emission Control Areas (SECA). Effectively this means that traditional heavy fuel oil used in freight ferries will be replaced with more refined fuel oil which is more expensive to purchase. All the various ferry operators within this area have slightly different but similar systems for calculating the SECA surcharges.
