Donation to the New Ross Men's Shed

Nolan Transport was delighted to donate a much needed desktop computer to the New Ross Men's Shed.

Collecting the computer on behalf of the shed were Lalo Malone and Tommy Dwyer, who said that it is the first computer for the shed and will make a huge difference. They added that there is very eager 82 year old named Daithi, who will have "a new lease of life" with it. It will be very useful for the shed, especially as a means of networking and communicating with other sheds.

The New Ross Men's Shed is located in the Irishtown and is one of many sheds in the county. Established over a year ago, it provides a space where men can come together to work on projects, learn new skills and socialise. It is a welcoming and stimulating environment that is completely alcohol and drug free. There are currently 14 men working at the shed and a major project that they are working on is the 'Three Rivers' project. The product of this will be a 12 x 5 foot, 1.5 tonne wooden sculpture depicting the rivers Barrow, Nore and Suir through wood carving effects of salmon, swans and the lady of the river. We cannot wait to see it later this year! Projects are mainly based in art and woodwork. And now, thanks to Nolan Transport, there will be computer work too.

The New Ross Men's Shed is open to men of all ages and the opening hours are 09:00 – 16:00. More information on the Irish Men's Shed Association is available at http://www.menssheds.ie/

We have also just received a great response from the Men's Shed;

Hi to all at Nolan Transport we at the mens shed New Ross would like to thank you for the donation of a computer and screen. Having our own computer to use will mean a lot to us. The men who attend are delighted to have their own computer so that they will be able to contact other mens sheds across the country and indeed across the internet everywhere. Nolan transport is a very important link not only to New Ross but to the whole country. It provides employment for local people and people in the in the county of Wexford. You are a company that has a lot of men working for them and as a company you understand the needs of men and their families. The mens shed was set up in New Ross early in 2012 for men who had time on their hands. To date Nolan Transport is the only company to sponsor the men of New Ross. The age of our members range from early 20s right up to our oldest member a young 80+ year old. And the joy that was on his face would bring tears to your eyes. He can not thank Nolan Transport enough for the computer it will make a big difference to him as he can use the computer every day he thanks you and we thank Nolan Transport and wish them well for the present and for the future.

Yours thankfully
Lalo Malone
