Ukrainian Aid

One of our Trailers left Nolan Transport New Ross yesterday with goods donated by staff of Nolan Transport, The People of New Ross, Local Business and the Ambulance Service.

The cargo is now on its way to Nolan Transports French office at Cherbourg where our Ukrainian colleague Vlada will add more donations from the People of Cherbourg. We expect that it will arrive to the Ukrainian border to help provide aid to Ukrainian citizens.

Back in March a few of our staff decided to do fundraising for Pieta House  linking in with their Darkness Into Light event. After researching Pieta house they were made aware that It costs approximately €1,000 to successfully bring one person through a full suite of therapy sessions and into the light, they decided to set this as their target. Nolan Transport are proud to announce that not only did they reach their target, they exceeded it raising: €1,255 After a few weeks of brainstorming, they decided on a few fundraising ideas that they believed would help reach their target. Sulphur Emission Control Areas (SECA)

Changes taking place from January 2015 in relation to the European Union directive on Fuel Emission that all ferry operators operating in the Sulphur Emission Control Areas (SECA). The SECA zone includes English Channel and North Sea that we must travel though when moving your cargo going to/from Mainland Europe. The current maximum allowed Sulphur content in marine fuels is 1.0% and this will reduce to 0.1% within the Sulphur Emission Control Areas (SECA). Effectively this means that traditional heavy fuel oil used in freight ferries will be replaced with more refined fuel oil which is more expensive to purchase. All the various ferry operators within this area have slightly different but similar systems for calculating the SECA surcharges.
