PLAN sets the standards

First asset based European transport network for pharma

This Wednesday April 24, logistics & transports providers Bech-Hansen & Studsgaard A/S, Nolan Transport and H.Essers will launch their PLAN at Logipharma Geneva – the world's largest end-to-end supply chain management conference for the life science industry.

PLAN is a cooperation between the three private owned transport companies all experienced & specialized in pharma transports.

PLAN finds its origin in the need for an asset based, Pan - European pharma logistics network. The partners felt a need in the market for an initiative that sets new quality standards.

PLAN operates across Europe and the CIS countries with their own dedicated pharma fleet of more than 450 trucks, so that direct control, real time information on position and temperature of every single order is guaranteed. These data are pro-active monitored by a 24/7 manned control tower. Next to the transport, PLAN operates with a network of own cross docks in Europe.

PLAN offers solutions for both LTL and FTL orders, all at the same quality standards and in a cost efficient way.

The three founding partners have described all working standards into a mutual agreed Service Level Agreement and Technical Standard. This results in a superior quality and absolute reliability. In their service to the customers, PLAN aims for cost effective solutions: consolidation, optimization of filling degree, dynamic routing.

The target is to expand the network by the end of 2014 with 6 to 8 new partners on strategic locations across Europe and CIS countries.

Back in March a few of our staff decided to do fundraising for Pieta House  linking in with their Darkness Into Light event. After researching Pieta house they were made aware that It costs approximately €1,000 to successfully bring one person through a full suite of therapy sessions and into the light, they decided to set this as their target. Sulphur Emission Control Areas (SECA)

Changes taking place from January 2015 in relation to the European Union directive on Fuel Emission that all ferry operators operating in the Sulphur Emission Control Areas (SECA). The SECA zone includes English Channel and North Sea that we must travel though when moving your cargo going to/from Mainland Europe. The current maximum allowed Sulphur content in marine fuels is 1.0% and this will reduce to 0.1% within the Sulphur Emission Control Areas (SECA). Effectively this means that traditional heavy fuel oil used in freight ferries will be replaced with more refined fuel oil which is more expensive to purchase. All the various ferry operators within this area have slightly different but similar systems for calculating the SECA surcharges.
